Wiktor Chabel (born November 23, 1985 in Sandomierz ) is a Polish rower .

Athletic career

Wiktor Chabel started rowing in 2004. At the European Championships in Poznan in 2007 , he finished ninth with the double foursome. The following year he reached fourth place in a double scull with Michał Słoma at the European Championships in Athens . In 2009, the two finished eighth at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan. At the European Championships in 2009 in Brest, Belarus, Arnold Sobczak , Piotr Licznerski , Michał Słoma and Wiktor Chabel won the bronze medal in the four-four behind the Ukrainians and the Belarusians. In 2010 Słoma and Chabel rowed in double sculls again. At the European Championships in Montemor , the two achieved fifth place. 2011 were the two 14th of the World Championships in Bled . At the European Championships 2011 in Plovdiv won Konrad Wasielewski , Wiktor Chabel, Kamil Zajkowski and Piotr Licznerski the bronze medal in quadruple sculls behind the Russians and Estonians. In 2012, Chabel and Licznerski took part in the last qualifying regatta for the Olympic Games in Lucerne, but only reached the semi-finals in a double scull. At the European Championships in Varese in 2012 Wasielewski and Chabel finished sixth in the double scull.

After a two-year break, Viktor Chabel returned in 2015 in the Polish quad scull and took fourth place at the 2015 European Championships on his home track in Poznan with Mateusz Biskup , Dariusz Radosz and Mirosław Ziętarski . At the world championships on the Lac d'Aiguebelette , the Poles achieved seventh place and thus the direct Olympic qualification. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Poles took second place behind the Australians in the preliminary run and came fourth in the final with one and a half seconds on the third-placed Estonians.

In 2017 the Polish four-four competed with Dominik Czaja , Dariusz Radosz, Wiktor Chabel and Adam Wicenciak . At the European Championships in Račice u Štětí , the Poles won silver behind the Lithuanians. Four months later, the Poles finished fifth at the World Championships in Sarasota . In 2018 Dominik Czaja, Wiktor Chabel, Szymon Pośnik and Maciej Zawojski rowed in the Polish quad scull . At the European Championships in Glasgow, the Italians won ahead of the Lithuanians and the Poles. A month and a half later, the 2018 World Championships took place in Plovdiv , and the Polish double scull reached sixth place. In 2019 the Polish quadruple won all three regattas in the Rowing World Cup : In Plovdiv with Fabian Barański , Wiktor Chabel, Mirosław Ziętarski and Mateusz Biskup; in Poznan and Rotterdam with Dominik Czaja, Wiktor Chabel, Szymon Pośnik and Fabian Barański. In this line-up, the Poles won the silver medal behind the Dutch at the 2019 World Championships in Linz-Ottensheim.
