Elisabeth "Ellen" Wilhelmina Hogerwerf (born February 10, 1989 in Gouda ) is a Dutch rower .

Athletic career

The 1.82 m tall Elisabeth Hogerwerf began rowing in 2007. At the U23 World Championships in 2010, she finished fifth with the four-man without a taxwoman , and in 2011 with Inge Janssen she won the bronze medal in the two-man without a taxwoman . At the 2011 World Championships in the adult class, the Dutch four-man without a helmsman received the bronze medal with Wianka van Dorp , Olivia van Rooijen , Elisabeth Hogerwerf and Femke Dekker . In 2012 Inge Janssen and Elisabeth Hogewerf formed a double scull , at the 2012 Olympic Games the two rowed to eighth place.

At the 2013 European Championships , Chantal Achterberg and Elisabeth Hogerwerf took seventh place in the double scull. Three months later, Elisabeth Hogerwerf competed at the 2013 World Championships with Olivia van Rooijen in a pair without a helmsman and reached fifth place. In 2014, Hogerwerf started in a double scull , with which she finished fourth at the European Championships in Belgrade and seventh at the World Championships in Amsterdam . In 2015, Hogerwerf started again at the European Championships with Olivia van Rooijen in a double without a helmsman, the two won the silver medal. At the 2015 World Championships , the two finished ninth with the two and sixth with the Dutch eight . Hogerwerf started the 2016 Olympic season with the Dutch eighth and winning the silver medal at the European Championships . Two weeks later, the Dutch eighth qualified in Lucerne as the last boat for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There the Dutch women achieved sixth place.

After a year break, Hogerwerf rowed back in the Dutch eight in 2018. This won the World Cup regattas in Belgrade and Linz. At the European Championships , the Dutch took third place behind the Romanians and the British. Six weeks later at the World Championships in Plovdiv, the Dutch women achieved fourth place as the best crew from Europe. In 2019, a foursome without a helmsman in the line-up of Elisabeth Hogerwerf, Karolien Florijn , Ymkje Clevering and Veronique Meester competed at the European Championships in Lucerne and won the gold medal ahead of the Romanians. Three months later, at the World Championships in Linz, the Dutch women won silver behind the Australians.
