Magdalena Schmude

Magdalena Schmude (born November 23, 1982 in Mainz ) is a German rower who competed in the skull until 2006 and then switched to the oar rowers .

Career

Schmude starts for the Berlin women's rowing club Wannsee . As a teenager she was quite successful in double sculls. She later won medals in the under-23s with the double foursome. In 2004 she was in this age group world champion in one . In 2005 she started for the first time at the World Championships in the adult class and took fourth place in the double scull.

The German double scull with Stephanie Schiller , Jeannine Hennicke , Schmude and Christiane Huth also took fourth place at the 2006 World Rowing Championships in Eton. At the beginning of 2007 the Russian winning team was stripped of the gold medal because of a doping offense committed by Olga Samulenkova , the British boat was declared the winner, the Australians moved up to second place and the Germans subsequently came third. Schmude moved to eighth position in the 2007 season and with the women's eight team she also qualified for the 2008 Olympic team. However, she was not used as a substitute at the 2008 Summer Olympics .
