Fulvio Fulgonio
Fulvio Fulgonio (born May 24, 1832 in Fiorenzuola d'Arda , † July 24, 1904 in Milan ) was an Italian writer and librettist.
Fulgonio published his first drama Amore e poesia at the age of twenty-two . Visione and Il medico e l'orfanello followed in 1858 ; the latter was performed in Piacenza that same year . Zuleica followed in 1861 . He also worked with the democratic-republican magazine L'Agitatore , where he published poems and a drama, among other things.
In 1869 Fulgonio moved to Milan. There he became friends with authors such as Antonio Ghislanzoni , Luigi Illica , Giuseppe Giacosa and Arrigo Boito and from 1872 worked for Gazzettino rosa , founded by Achille Bizzoni and Felice Cavallotti , where he published under pseudonyms such as Farfarello , Marameo and Strimpellatore . After Cavallotti's drama I pezzenti , he wrote an opera libretto that was composed by Luigi Canepa in 1877 and premiered in 1879 at the Teatro alla Scala .
In addition to plays such as Torquato Tasso and Beatrice Tenda , Fulgonio wrote more than one hundred opera librettos, including Riccardo III after William Shakespeare (set to music by Luigi Canepa, 1879), I Moncada (set to music by Romualdo Marenco , 1890), Bianca di Cervia (set to music by Antonio Smareglia , 1882 ), Tito Vezio (set to music by Alberto Giovannini , 1884), Nestorio (set to music by Giuseppe Gallignani , 1888) and Dal sogno alla vita (set to music by Virginia Mariani Campolieti , 1898).
He also worked for La Farfalla , La Commedia umana , Il Trovatore , Arte drammatica and other literary and theater magazines. For many years he published farces on current topics in Secolo Lombardia .
