Giuseppe Gallignani
Giuseppe Gallignani (born January 9, 1851 in Faenza , † December 14, 1923 in Milan ) was an Italian composer and music teacher.
Life
Gallignani was Kapellmeister at the Milan Cathedral from 1891 . In 1891, on Verdi's recommendation, he succeeded Arrigo Boito as director of the Parma Conservatory. In 1897 he was appointed director of the Milan Conservatory. After his refusal to join the fascist party or to relinquish the leadership of the conservatory, he was recalled because of alleged irregularities in the leadership and committed suicide . In addition to seven operas, five of which were performed, Gallignani composed mainly church music.
