Cugliate-Fabiasco is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .
geography
The municipality is located about 14 kilometers north of Varese and covers an area of 6.68 km² . To Cugliate-Fabiasco include Fraktione Cugliate and Fabiasco . The neighboring municipalities are Cadegliano-Viconago , Cremenaga , Cuasso al Monte , Cunardo , Grantola , Marchirolo , Montegrino Valtravaglia and Valganna .
history
In Roman times , Cugliate was crossed by the Roman road Via Varesina , which connected Mediolanum ( Milan ) with Luganum ( Lugano ) and led to Varisium ( Varese ).
In the area of Cugliate Fabiasco there is part of the defense system on the northern border with Switzerland, the so-called Linea Cadorna ; There are traces of it in particular along Route 5 on Monte la Nave and on Alpe Manera.
In 1928 Cugliate-Fabiasco emerged from the municipalities of Cugliate, Fabiasco and Marchirolo . The latter became independent again in 1955.
