The municipality is located about seven kilometers west-southwest of Varese on Lake Varese and covers an area of ​​4.45  km² . Bodio Lomnago includes the Lomnago, Rogorella, Boffalora, Pizzo, Porto and Roccolo fractions. The neighboring municipalities are Casale Litta , Cazzago Brabbia , Daverio , Galliate Lombardo , Inarzo and Varese.

In the early days, the Insubrians settled on the southern shore of Lake Vares . From 1395 Bodio became part of the Duchy of Milan .
