The municipality is located about 11 kilometers south-southeast of Varese on the Olona and covers an area of ​​4.78  km² . The groups Gornate Olona , Biciccera , Madonnetta , San Pancrazio , Montello and Torba belong to Gornate-Olona . Attractions

In the district of Torba is the old complex of the St. Mary's monastery in the Parco archeologico di Castelseprio . The origins are in the 5th and 6th centuries. From the 8th century the monastery was used by the Benedictines. The building is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site with the name " The Lombards in Italy, Places of Power (568 to 774 AD) ".
