Tradate is a municipality ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .
geography
The municipality is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Varese about 30 kilometers northwest of Milan and covers an area of 21.19 km² . The Abbiate Guazzone and Ceppine factions belong to Tradate. By presidential decree, the municipality has had the name ( Città - city) since 1958 .
The municipality of Tradate borders the province of Como . The neighboring municipalities are Appiano Gentile (CO), Cairate , Carbonate (CO), Castelnuovo Bozzente (CO), Locate Varesino (CO), Lonate Ceppino and Venegono Inferiore .
Toponomics
The name of the place should come either from the name Theodorus , possibly also from Teuderad as a name for a Goth tribe .
history
From Tradatum (Roman name for Tradate) the Via Varesina, which connected Mediolanum (Milan) with Luganum ( Lugano ), led through Baretium ( Varese ), hence the name of the street, and the Via Gallaratese, the Novaria ( Novara ) with Comum ( Como ) association.

Tradate is west of the Parco Pineta di Appiano Gentile . The FOAM13 observatory is located here. The so-called Tradate Iron Fest with numerous heavy metal concerts takes place regularly .
