The community is located on the east bank of the Langensee and covers an area of ​​41.96 km². It surrounds the independent municipality of Tronzano Lago Maggiore and borders in the north on the Swiss canton of Ticino . The neighboring communities are Brissago (CH-TI), Cannobio (IT-VB), Dumenza (IT-VB), Gambarogno (CH-TI), Luino (IT-VB), Ronco sopra Ascona (CH-TI) and Tronzano Lago Maggiore (IT-VB).

history

The municipality was created on February 4, 2014 after a consultative vote on December 1, 2013 with Regional Law No. 8 of January 30, 2014. It emerged from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Maccagno, Pino sulla Sponda del Lago Maggiore and Veddasca .

Transport and economy

The municipality is on the Bellinzona - Giubiasco - Luino railway line , whose trains operated by TILO SA go to Milan-Malpensa airport .
