Brusino Arsizio is a municipality in the Ceresio district , in the Lugano district in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .
geography
The village is located at 276 m above sea level. M. on the shores of Lake Lugano , on the Riva San Vitale - Porto Ceresio route and 6 km northwest of the Capolago station of the Swiss Federal Railways ( Bellinzona - Chiasso line ). It is at the foot of Monte San Giorgio . From the “Terniciolo” district, a cable car leads to Serpiano (650 m above sea level). This fraction belonging to Brusino Arsizio can be reached on foot or by road via Mendrisiotto ( Rancate - Besazio - Meride - Serpiano TI ).
history
The village was first mentioned in 1167 as Bruxia . During the first half of the 15th century, the village provided ten soldiers to the Duke of Milan . It used to belong to the parish of Riva San Vitale ; In 1508 it was detached from it.
Brusino Arsizio used to be a typical fishing village. With the advent of tourism, numerous holiday homes were built. The parish church of San Michele and the church of Beata Vergine Addolorata both date from the 18th century.
