geography

Riva San Vitale is located on the eastern slope of Monte San Giorgio at the southern end of an arm of Lake Lugano into which the Laveggio flows.

history

The village was already settled before the Etruscans in pre-Christian times and later a Roman vicus under the name Vicus Subinates .
