The chemical plant construction combine Leipzig-Grimma (CLG) was a combine in the GDR from 1979 to 1990 , which was subordinate to the Ministry of Chemical Industry . As a general contractor, the CLG was responsible for the technical development, project planning, construction and assembly of chemical plants in the GDR and acted as a general supplier for the export of chemical plants. In addition, the CLG coordinated the import of systems and was responsible for the overall structure within the GDR.

history

In 1867 the master locksmiths Hentschel and Selchow founded a workshop in Golzern . This was renamed in 1872 in the stock corporation "Maschinenbauanstalt Golzern" (MAG). In 1899 it was merged into the “Maschinenbau-Aktiengesellschaft Golzern-Grimma” (MAG) and in 1946 it was expropriated and renamed “ VEB Maschinen- und Apparatebau Grimma”.

With effect from January 1, 1979 the companies VEB Chemieanlagenbau- und Montagekombinat Leipzig, VVB Chemieanlagen Leipzig, VEB Konstruktions- und Ingenieurbüro Chemie Leipzig, VEB Maschinen- und Apparatebau Grimma - parent company, VEB Ingenieurtechnisches Zentralbüro Böhlen, VEB Chemieanlagenbau Leipzig and VEB Apparatebau and Iron foundry Leisnig-Tragnitz merged to form VEB Chemieanlagenkombinat Leipzig-Grimma / parent company based in Grimma.

Research and Development

Kombinat CLG was responsible for the joint process development of the GDR chemical companies and planned and built pilot plants for new processes. To this end, it operated a test center with various test facilities in the southern area of the parent company's premises. The main research areas included:

  • Plant development for coal refining , microbiology , fueling technology, man-made fiber production, low-temperature technology, manufacturing of inorganic products and for environmental protection.
  • Development of CAD / CAM systems, processes for surface finishing, robot technology, automation technology and means of rationalization.

Successor company

In January 1990 the combine was dissolved and the former parent company with a production facility in Grimma was re-privatized as Maschinen- und Apparatebau Grimma GmbH (MAG). The company was later called MWL APPARATEBAU GmbH GRIMMA and belonged to the Hertel company. In 2015, all employees were given notice and machines, systems and real estate were sold separately. Large parts of the machines and employees were taken over by Mayr & Wilhelm GmbH & Co.KG (manufacturer of tube bundle heat exchangers), other parts of the employees and parts of the property were acquired by AEL (Apparatebau und Eisengießerei Leisnig, a former founding company of the CLG).

In 1991, the chemical plant construction company Edeleanu GmbH Leipzig hired 95 engineers who had previously worked for the CLG. This has been part of the Austrian Pörner Group since 2003 , which started operations in Grimma in 1992.

The "Vocational School Center Grimma" is now located in the buildings of the former "Hans Beimler" company vocational school at Karl-Marx-Strasse 22. The Grimma vehicle registration office is now using the former apprentice dormitory of the vocational school next door.
