Kenneth Nowakowski
Kenneth Anthony Adam Nowakowski ( Ukrainian : Кеннет Новаківський, born May 16, 1958 in North Battleford , Canada ) is a Canadian clergyman and Ukrainian Greek Catholic bishop of the Holy Family of London eparchy .
Life
Kenneth Nowakowski was the second of three sons in the Stanley and Roma Nowakowski family. He attended elementary school in Battleford and then went to the high school in North Battleford. He then worked in various fields, he then took part in an educational program at the Redemptorist House in Toronto . Following this, he moved to the St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto and in 1984 his studies with the Bachelor of Religious Studies and Philosophy from. He was then a seminarian in the Pontifical Ukrainian College of St. Josaphat in Rome and obtained in 1989 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas the Bachelor of Theology .
Kenneth Nowakowski was ordained a diocesan priest on August 19, 1989 by Bishop Basil Filevich ( Eparchy Saskatoon ) . In the autumn of 1989 he returned to Rome and began studying canon law for the Eastern Churches . In response to the constant increase in the number of refugees from Ukraine , he founded and headed the Ukrainian Refugee Office in Rome.
In Lviv
In June 1990 he became Deputy Vicar General to Cardinal Myroslav Ivan Lubachivsky , who ruled in exile in Rome . In 1991 he returned to Lviv with Cardinal Lubachivsky . From 1991 to 1992 he was Vice Rector of the Holy Spirit Seminary of the Archeparchy of Lviv . In 1994 he founded the Ukrainian Caritas and was its president until 2001.
In Canada
In November 2001 he was called to the regens of the Ottawa seminary and in October 2002 he also took over the office of press officer for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Canada. During World Youth Day in Canada in 2002, he directed the Pontifical Media Liaison Office and assisted the Holy See's press office . Nowakowski was called to serve on the Adult Catechesis Commission of the Canadian Bishops' Conference. In July 2006 he was appointed Vicar General of the Saskatoon Eparchy. During the pastoral trip of the Holy Father John Paul II to Ukraine (2001) Pastor Nowakowski was the director of the press office for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

On January 15, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of the Holy Family Eparchy of London. The inauguration took place on March 21 of the same year.
