Lawrence Daniel Huculak OSBM (born January 25, 1951 in Vernon , Canada ) is a Canadian clergyman and Ukrainian Greek Catholic Archbishop of Winnipeg .

Life

Lawrence Daniel Huculak was born in the western Canadian town of Vernon in 1951. At the age of 18, Huculak joined the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat Kunzewitsch . He made his first profession on September 3, 1972. After perpetual profession on June 26, 1977, he was ordained a priest on August 28, 1977 by the Bishop of New Westminster , Jeronim Isidor Chimy OSBM .

He was appointed bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic eparchy of Edmonton on December 16, 1996. On April 3, 1997, the Archbishop of Winnipeg, Michael Bzdel CSsR , donated his episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of New Westminster, Severian Stefan Yakymyshyn , and the Bishop of Saskatoon , Cornelius John Pasichny . The enthronement took place on April 6, 1997 in Edmonton.

Lawrence Daniel Huculak was appointed Archbishop of Winnipeg on January 9, 2006. The solemn enthronement took place on February 11, 2006.

Lawrence Daniel Huculak was principal consecrator at the episcopal ordinations of Kenneth Anthony Adam Nowakowski , Daniel Kozelinski Netto and Bryan Joseph Bayda and co-consecrator at the ordinations of Paul Patrick Chomnycky and David Motiuk .

On July 8, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue .
