Teemu Lassila (born March 26, 1983 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with Orli Znojmo in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League . His father Hannu was also an ice hockey goalkeeper.
Career
Teemu Lassila began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of TPS Turku , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2002/03 season , after he had been brought into the professional squad as a substitute goalkeeper the previous year. In the following years he was regularly used for TPS and was runner-up with his team in the 2003/04 season . During the same season he played five games on loan for Turku's league rivals Ässät Pori . After he had spent an entire season as a regular goalkeeper at TPS for the first time in the 2004/05 season , he moved to Sweden, where he stood for two years for the capital club Djurgårdens IF in the Elitserien between the posts.
From 2007 to 2011 Lassila played for HPK Hämeenlinna in the SM-liiga, whereby he failed in the 2009/10 season with HPK only in the playoff final for the championship title at his ex-club TPS Turku. In the 2007/08 season he was also on loan five times for LeKi and Kiekko-Vantaa in the second-rate Mestis . After winning the World Championship title in 2011 with Finland, he was committed to the 2011/12 season by Metallurg Novokuznetsk from the Continental Hockey League . For Metallurg, he then completed 50 KHL games with above-average statistics before he was signed by Barys Astan for two years in May 2012 . In the 2012/13 season he completed 23 KHL games for Astana with a catch quota of almost 90 percent, before he was committed in May 2013 by HK Awangard Omsk . After 10 games for Awangard, in which he conceded a goal average of 4.40, his contract was terminated by mutual agreement in early October of the same year. After some time without a club, Lassila was signed by the Växjö Lakers from Svenska Hockeyligan in December 2013 and ran there for the remainder of the season .
In the summer of 2014, the left catcher returned to his youth club TPS Turku and was there on the ice in the Liiga until the end of the 2015/16 season . He then moved to Tappara within the Liiga and won the Finnish championship title with the Tampere club in 2017 .
In the 2017/18 season Lassila was under contract with HC Banska Bystrica in the Slovak Extraliga and won the Slovak championship with this in 2018 .
For the 2018/19 season he moved to HC Orli Znojmo in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga and played there until the end of the 2019/20 season.
International
For Finland , Lassila took part in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively . At the 2011 World Cup in Slovakia , he and his team were world champions. In his three missions he had a total of 2.19 goals against and achieved a catch rate of 91.3 percent.
