Jeronim Isidore Chimy
Jeronim Isidor Chimy OSBM (born March 12, 1919 in Radway , Canada , † September 19, 1992 in New Westminster ) was bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic eparchy of New Westminster .
Life
Jeronim Isidor Chimy was born in 1919 in the Canadian town of Radway, in central Alberta . With twenty-five years Chimy on 29 June 1944 in the Basilianerorden of St. Josaphat for priests ordained.
He was appointed Bishop of New Westminster on June 27, 1974. On September 5, 1974, at the age of fifty-five, the solemn episcopal ordination took place in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic eparchy of New Westminster. Archbishop Maxim Hermaniuk acted as main consecrators at the episcopal consecration, with Archbishop Ambrozij Andrew Senyshyn and Bishop Neil Nicholas Savaryn as co-consecrators .
Chimy headed the New Westminster eparchy for a total of eighteen years until his death on September 19, 1992. In total, Bishop Jeronim Isidore Chimy had served in the pastoral ministry for forty-eight years . During his tenure as bishop he had been principal consecrator of Paul Patrick Chomnycky and co- consecrator of Myron Michael Daciuk .
