Robert of Rimscha

Robert von Rimscha (born December 24, 1964 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist , non-fiction author and diplomat , who has been Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany based in Chengdu , the capital of Sichuan , with responsibility for southwest China since September 2018 . He was ambassador to Laos from 2011 to 2014 and envoy to the embassy in Tokyo from 2014 to 2018.

Life

After graduating from high school , von Rimscha began studying history , German studies , philosophy , American studies and economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1984 and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Boston in 1989 with a master's degree Arts (MA). In mid-1989 he taught as a visiting professor at the University of South Africa UNISA in Pretoria. In 1990 he began postgraduate studies in American studies at the Graduate College of the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin .

Robert von Rimscha is a grandson of Hans von Rimscha .

Since September 2018 he has headed the German diplomatic mission in Chengdu, China.
