Peter Wienand

Peter Wienand (born June 27, 1946 in Dortmund ) is a former German diplomat .

Life

Peter Wienand passed his Abitur in 1967. From 1968 to 1972 he studied economics , political science and sociology as well as education . After passing the first state examination, he completed his doctorate in 1977 . A year later he joined the Higher Foreign Service a.

After training as an attaché from 1978 to 1980 at the diplomatic school in Bonn - Ippendorf , Wienand was permanent representative at the German Embassy in Kathmandu ( Nepal ) from 1982 to 1985 . From 1985 to 1987 he was employed at the Foreign Office in Bonn. From 1987 to 1990, Wienand was Permanent Representative at the Embassy in Khartoum ( Sudan ) before he was Permanent Representative at the Embassy in Colombo ( Sri Lanka ) from 1990 to 1993 .

After a period in the Foreign Office from 1993 to 1996, Wienand was German Ambassador to Bishkek ( Kyrgyzstan ) from 1996 to 2001 . The next foreign assignment took him from 2001 to 2003 as permanent representative to the German embassy in Seoul ( South Korea ). From 2003 to 2006 Wienand was ambassador in Cotonou ( Benin ). Since July 2006 he has represented the Federal Republic of Germany as ambassador in Laos and after his retirement in October 2011 he was replaced by Robert von Rimscha , the previous head of the planning staff in the Foreign Office.
