Ernesto Formenti (born August 2, 1927 in Seregno , Province of Milan , † October 5, 1989 in Milan ) was an Italian boxer .

career

In the 1948 Olympic Games in London he won the gold medal in the featherweight. There he defeated the South African Dennis Shepherd in the final .

As a professional, he completed a total of 35 fights between 1950 and 1954. In June 1950, he secured the national featherweight championship title by a disqualification win over Alvaro Cerasani and defended it twice before laying it down. On January 28, 1953 he fought for the Italian lightweight championship against Duilio Loi , but lost by technical knockout in the ninth round.
