Chiggiogna was a municipality in the Faido district in the Leventina district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland . Since January 29, 2006 it has been part of the Faido municipality .
geography
The village is located on the left edge of the Leventina valley at 675 m above sea level. M. and includes the districts Lavorgo and Fusnengo.
history
The Vicinanza Chiggiogna was divided into five Degagne, including that of Prugiasco , a village in the neighboring Blenio Valley , which until 1803 belonged to the Leventina.
Merger with Faido
In a referendum in March 2004, the citizens of Chiggiogna accepted the merger of their municipality with Faido, Osco , Mairengo , Calpiogna , Campello , Rossura , Anzonico , Cavagnago , Calonico and Sobrio .
The villages Lavorgo and Fusnengo belonged to the municipality of Chiggiogna .

Personalities
- Bartolomeo Bedra (* around 1540 in?; † after 1578 in?), Jesuit , probably from the Leventine, helped Charles Borromeo in the reform of the three Ambrosian valleys. Pastor of Chiggiogna 1567, vicar, then visitator of Leventina 1568; In 1569 he left Chiggiogna and stayed in Biasca in 1576 as a visitor, that is, as vicar general of the three Ambrosian valleys. On July 2nd, 1578, he entered the service of Count Hannibal d'Altaemps.
