Until March 31, 2012, Calpiogna was a political municipality in the Faido district in the Leventina district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland . In 1853 the now independent municipality of Campello separated from the municipality.

The village of Calpiogna is located on a sunny terrace on the left slope of the Leventina Valley at 1143 m above sea level. M. and had only 37 inhabitants at the end of 2007, at the end of 2002 there were 46. The municipality of Calpiogna includes Prodör, which is a well-known Ticino holiday resort with Carì , and the lower-lying village of Primadengo.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1246 as Calpiognia . In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the vicinìa Faido and the parish Faido- Mairengo . In 1577 it already had a chapel dedicated to St. Eutychios . In 1665 the chapel was rebuilt and consecrated to St. Athanasius. In 1651 the chapel of St. Anthony of Padua was built in Primadengo . At the beginning of the 19th century, it still comprised Campello TI , which was separated from the church in 1837 and civilly in 1853 and became a separate church and political community.

Merger with Faido

On April 1, 2012, it merged with the municipalities of Anzonico , Campello , Cavagnago , Chironico , Mairengo and Osco to form the existing municipality of Faido .

In a referendum in March 2004, the citizens of Calpiogna rejected the merger of their municipality with Faido, Osco, Mairengo, Campello, Anzonico, Rossura , Calonico , Chiggiogna , Cavagnago and Sobrio , although the municipality has few resources and is financially completely dependent on the canton .

The village of Primadengo is classified in the inventory of protected sites in Switzerland (ISOS) as a site of national importance in Switzerland.
