Adam I. von Neuhaus (also Adam I. von Hradec , Czech Adam I. z Hradce ; * May 11, 1494 , † June 25, 1531 in Prague ) was 1523-1531 Supreme Chancellor of Bohemia . He came from the Telsch line of the Lords of Neuhaus .

Life

His parents were Heinrich IV von Neuhaus and Anna, daughter of Heinrich the Elder. J. von Munsterberg . Since Adam was still a minor when his father died in 1507, he and his sister Anna were under the tutelage of the Bohemian Regional Governor Peter IV. Von Rosenberg , the Teltscher court officials Georg Hrobský of Sedlce ( Jiřík Hrobský for Sedlce a na Raděníně ) and her mother and the maternal grandmother Katharina von Münsterberg . In 1507 they confirmed the privileges granted by Adam's father to the city of Neuhaus in 1472. In 1508 they granted the Telsch suburbs the same privileges as the city of Telsch had until then. In 1508 they left the Prague house on Caletná ulice, which Adam's father had received from the king, to Michael Slavata .

On September 14, 1511 Adam took over his father's inheritance and administration of the estates. In the same year he arranged the wedding of his sister Anna to Hynek Boček from Kunstadt auf Polná , which was to take place two years later. As he inherited large debts from his father, he sold the Rozštýn Castle and other properties in 1512. In 1515 Adam married Anna, daughter of the influential Zdeňek Lev von Rosental . You signed Adam Heečice as the marriage estate . In 1516 he confirmed the previous privileges to his residence town Neuhaus.

In 1523 King Ludwig II appointed Adam I. von Neuhaus as the highest chancellor of Bohemia. After the death of King Ludwig II at Mohács , Adam supported the candidacy of Ferdinand I , who had been married to Ludwig's sister Anna since 1521. At Ferdinand's coronation on February 24, 1527, Adam carried the imperial orb . He supported the politics of the Habsburgs , whom he faithfully served. Although large parts of the Bohemian nobility turned to the Utraquists , Lutherans or Bohemian Brothers , Adam and his family remained true to the Catholic faith. Since his residence city Neuhaus was on the route that the king and his court used on their journeys from Vienna to Prague, Adam arranged for the roads and bridges to be built in his domain. He had paintings of the Bohemian kings made for Neuhaus Castle .

Adam I von Neuhaus died of the plague in Prague on June 25, 1531 at the age of 37 .
