In the 20th century numerous inns and accommodations were built in the vicinity of Staňkov at both ponds. This development ended with the construction of the Iron Curtain. Staňkov was in the restricted area and many buildings were demolished. After a reduction in the exclusion zone in the mid-1960s, the site could again be developed for tourism and a campground could be created. After the Velvet Revolution, the entire area became accessible again. Today Staňkov is a resort with several campsites.
