course

The Koštěnický potok rises in the nature park Česká Canada in the Javořická vrchovina at the southern foot of the Vysoký kámen ( Markstein , 738 m) at Kaproun at 677.77 m above sea level. M. It initially runs to the northwest and is bridged by the narrow-gauge railway Jindřichův Hradec - Nová Bystřice . At Kunějovský Dvůr the brook is dammed in the pond Velký Klíkovský rybník and other small ponds. Between Člunek and Kačlehy, the Koštěnický potok feeds the three kilometer long and 196 hectare Kačležský rybník ( Gatterschläger pond ), the island in it is a bird sanctuary. The brook leaves the pond to the southwest via Na Mořidle, Na Strání, Kunějovské Samoty, Dobrovodské Jednoty, Číměř and Sedlo. On the hill Nad Lhotu ( Neustift Mountain , 563 m) the valley of Koštěnický potok is crossed by a bunker line of the Czechoslovak Wall , which continues downstream on the right slope to the Stankau pond. Subsequently, the brook feeds the Novomlýnský rybník pond, the eponymous new mill that used to stand here no longer exists. South of the pond are the former Peršlák barracks and the Republík Stone. At the confluence of the Rottaler Bach / Červený potok, the Neumühlbach / Koštěnický potok near Rottal reaches the northernmost point of Austria and in its further course forms the border between the two states for 10 kilometers.

Not far from the Černý kříž ( Black Cross ), the stream on Langholz flows into the six-kilometer-long Stankau pond / Staňkovský rybník, on the left bank of which the state border runs. On the eastern bank of the pond there is a meridian stone in the Rottaler Forest in Austria , which marks the intersection of the 15th longitude and 49th parallel . Below the tributary of the Tanngraben is the valley of Koštěnický potok, flooded by the Staňkovský rybník, again in the Czech interior. At Staňkov, the stream still feeds the Špačkov pond below the Staňkovský rybník, which was the southernmost bay of the Staňkovský rybník before it was separated by a dam. Below Staňkov the Koštěnický potok flows into the Hejtman pond ( main man pond ). On the further course are Chlum u Třeboně , Josefovo Údolí, Hamr , Svodnice, U Hvízdalů, Kosky and U Jouzů. After 43.26 km the Koštěnický potok flows southeast of Majdalena at the settlement U Kosařů at 438.42 m above sea level. M. in the Lainsitz. Across from the estuary is the Chlum u Třeboně station, above the Pilař Lainsitz weir, from which the Zlatá stoka is diverted. The catchment area of the Neumühlbach / Koštěnický potok covers 125.4 km².
