Lásenice (German Lassenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers southwest of Jindřichův Hradec and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Lásenice is located in the valley of the Nežárka between the Kardašořečická pahorkatina and the Javořická vrchovina. The village is surrounded by a large number of ponds, the largest of which are Formanský rybník and Velká Lásenice in the south. The 607 m high Homolka rises to the south.

history
The village on the trade route leading through the Nežárka valley from Neuhaus to Budweis , including a fortress, was first mentioned in documents in 1366. In 1382, Nikolaus Roth von Lassenitz owned the fortress and from 1429 it belonged to Meinhard von Neuhaus .
Between 1420 and 1421 there was a Hussite wagon castle in Lásenice, inside which a wooden cross was placed for the purpose of church services. In its place a wooden bell tower was built in the 16th century, which burned down in 1742. A brick chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary and John of Nepomuk was built in its place, which was replaced by the current one in 1863.
The Pieta von Lásenice, made between 1360 and 1374, became famous and was located in a chapel in the village until the 18th century. It originally came from the Margaret Church in Dubovice . In the 19th century the work of art was donated by the council of the Prague National Gallery and is now in the local collection of Gothic art in the former Agnes Monastery in Prague .
The surroundings of the place attracted well-known painters in the 19th and 20th centuries, including Antonín Chittussi , Otakar Nejedlý and Václav Vojtěch Novák . On the initiative of the painter Franta Volf, the Malá lásenická gallery was created, in which exhibitions by contemporary painters and photographers are presented.
