The Siem Reap airport ( Khmer : អាកាសយានដ្ឋាន អន្តរជាតិ សៀមរាប . English Siem Reap International Airport ) is an international airport in Cambodia . It is located 8 kilometers northwest of Siem Reap , near the Angkor Wat temple complex . The official opening of the new airport terminal was on August 28, 2006, the area of the airport was expanded in 2016. In terms of the number of passengers carried and aircraft movements, the airport is the second largest in the country, after the capital airport Phnom Penh .

In order not to endanger the temple complexes due to the vibrations generated by aircraft taking off or landing, the approach and departure is only permitted from / in a south-westerly direction. (Take-offs via Rwy 23, landings via Rwy 05)
