Bednáreček (German Klein Bernharz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic with 192 inhabitants. It is located 13 kilometers northeast of Jindřichův Hradec and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Bednárec is located on the left in the Žirovnice valley in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The 612 m high Hrůzův Kopec rises to the east and the Tůmův vrch to the southeast. The railway lines Veselí nad Lužnicí - Jihlava and Jarošov nad Nežárkou - Batelov run through the village .
Neighboring towns are Zdešov and Vlčetín in the north, Popelín in the east, Česká Olešná in the southeast, Nová Olešná in the south, Bednárec in the southwest and Kamenný Malíkov in the west,
history
Bednáreček was founded in the course of the German colonization of the area in the 14th century. The village was mentioned for the first time in 1499. Its inhabitants were Waldensians and later the ideals of the Bohemian brothers were spread. Besides working in agriculture, the inhabitants made a living from the production of mother- of- pearl buttons .
On August 29, 1887, before the official inauguration on November 3, the first train from Veselí nad Lužnicí to Jihlava rolled through the town. In the second half of the 20th century it was incorporated into Popelín , and Bednáreček has been an independent municipality again since 1992.
