Červený Hrádek (German Rothenburg ) is a municipality with about 200 inhabitants in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers northeast of Dačice and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
The place is located in the southern foothills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands at the confluence of the Řečice in the Vápovka.

history
The place was first mentioned in 1233 as the property of the Marquart von Hrádek (Markvart z Hrádku), which can be traced back to 1257. His ancestor of the same name was the founder of the Premonstratensian monastery in Nová Říše in 1211.
A fortress was built on a promontory on the Vápovka, which from 1585 was called a castle with a manor. In the 17th century the castle fell into desolation.
One kilometer south is the Hegerhaus V Koutech , in which Otokar Březina was also a guest. A plaque commemorates the poet's stay.
Various legends have been passed down in the village about a fiery dog and the forest spirit Hejkal.
