Heinrich Schaevius

Heinrich Schaevius (* 1624 in Kiel ; † November 7, 1661 in Thorn ) was a German high school teacher and poet .

Schaevius studied at the University of Rostock and the University of Königsberg , among others . He received his doctorate in medicine and philosophy (Dr. med. Et phil.). In 1650 he became professor of Greek and poetry at the Stettin Pedagogy , where he moved up to the position of prorector. In 1660 he moved to the Thorner Gymnasium as rector .

Schaevius published a little book on the liver rhymes under the pseudonym Euphrosine von Sittenbach . In the history of literature he was sometimes even portrayed as the inventor of liver rhymes because of this book , but wrongly.

Schaevius published a few more writings. He was a crowned poet .

Schaevius died of the plague in 1661 .
