Okres Beroun is a district in the western part of the Středočeský kraj in the Czech Republic . It consists of mountainous terrain, with plains in some enclaves west of Beroun and near Hostomice , Neumětel and Litná . The lowest point is the surface of the Berounka River near Zadní Třebaň at 211 m above sea level. M., the highest point is the mountain Jivina (620 m above sea level). Besides rocky landscapes, the banks of the Berounka and numerous caves ( Koněpruské jeskyně ) belong to the most beautiful areas . Forests take up more than a third of the area of 662 km². 76,000 inhabitants live in the district, 40.6% of the district's population live in the five towns of Beroun, Hořovice , Hostomice, Zdice and Žebrák .
Industry predominates in Beroun, mostly concentrated in Beroun, Králův Dvůr , Hořovice and Komárov . The largest employers are KOSTAL ČR , sro in Zdice, Českomoravský cement , as NS Beroun, Linde frigera , sro Beroun, Buzuluk Komárov, nástupnická as, Valeo výměníky tepla, sro in Žebrák and GZ Digital Media , as in Loděnice. Limestone is also mined in the district.
52% of the population is employed, 31% of them in industry, 5% in agriculture, and the trend is falling. The number of people employed in the construction industry and in the tertiary sector is developing positively. The average wage was 17,231 kroner and is above the national average. Unemployment is 5.5%.
Berounsko is rich in historical monuments. Among the best known include the historic Karlštejn , Žebrák and Točník , Castle Hořovice , the baroque church in Tetín , the Monastery of St. Johann in scale and the birthplace of the young man in Hudlice . The Křivoklátsko and Český kras protected landscape areas and the Karlštejn-Koda Nature Park are located in the district . The following are declared national natural monuments: Kotýz, Zlatý kůň , Klonk , Černá rokle, Lom na Kobyle, Špičatý vrch - Barrandovy jámy, Tetínské skály, Karlické údolí, Kulivá Hora, Radotínské údolí and others.
