history

Archaeological finds show that there was a fortress on the Velíz mountain in Celtic and Slavic times; it is believed that the summit was a sacrificial site of the pagan god Veles . According to the Chronica Boemorum , Kochan von Vršovec is said to have captured and tortured the Přemyslid prince Jaromír during a joint hunt in the old Velíz castle in 1003 . After Jaromír managed to escape, he is said to have built a chapel dedicated to his patron saint John the Baptist in 1005 in gratitude for his rescue.

Duke Břetislav I left Velíz to the Benedictines of the Insola Monastery in 1037 , who built a monastery and a provost house on the mountain. During the attack on Točník Castle , the Hussites destroyed the monastery in 1421. In 1425 Velíz was added to the Točník royal rule. King Vladislav II Jagiello pledged the Točník rule in 1509 to Christoph von Guttenstein. From 1552 onwards Johann d. Ä. Booger von Lobkowicz , who inherited the rule four years later.

The first written mention of the settlement Kublov, located under the desolate Velíz Monastery, was made in 1558. Georg Popel von Lobkowicz had the Točník rule divided in 1590, while Kublov became subordinate to the royal court . In 1593 he lost all property because of an intrigue against Emperor Rudolf II . In 1594 the lords of Točník, Zbiroh and the royal court were united to form a cameraman whose captain had his seat in the Zbiroh castle. The royal court burgrave Pavel Sieglerovský had the desolate church on Velíz rebuilt in the 17th century with financial support from subjects from Broumy and Kublov. Later the Kublov exclave was assigned to the Točník part of the rule. The church on Velíz was redesigned and expanded in baroque style between 1747 and 1752. In 1787 it was elevated to a parish church and the parsonage was built from the religious fund.

Until the middle of the 19th century, the village in the Berauner district was an enclave within the Pürglitzer estates and was subject to the Točník lordship .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Kublov / Kublow after 1850 with the establishment Veliz nad Kublovem a municipality in the district Rakonitz and judicial district Křivoklát .
