Karlštejn [ ˈkarlʃtɛjn ] (German Karlstein ) is a minority in the Okres Beroun in the Czech Republic . About 740 inhabitants live on 1209 hectares.
history
The original foundation of the village is closely related to the building of Karlštejn Castle by Emperor Charles IV . The emperor also had the first vineyards planted, which are still cultivated today. The municipality of Karlštejn was formed in 1952 through the administrative merger of the villages of Budňany and Poučník. Since 2007 the place has the status of a Městys .
