Žebrák (German beggars ) is a town with 1,909 inhabitants (January 1, 2004) in the Czech Republic . It is 342 m above sea level. 16 km southwest of the city of Beroun on the D 5 motorway, which continues to Rokycany , and belongs to the Okres Beroun .
history
The first documentary mention of the village, located at the southern foot of the Pürglitzer Forest , dates back to 1280. On January 4, 1396, King Wenceslaus the Lazy granted beggars city rights .
In the 19th century, beggars were a lively club. Among them were the League of Theater Friends ( Spolek divadelních ochotníků ), founded in 1812, and the Slovanská lípa ( "Slavic Linden Tree" ) association was established in 1848 . In 1864 the choral society Hlahol ( "Klang" ) followed and in 1869 the society Sokol ( "Falke" ).
Due to its favorable location directly on the Prague - Pilsen - Rozvadov motorway , easily accessible via motorway exit 34, the city has developed well in recent years and the population is growing.
