Adolf Hofmann

Adolf Hofmann (born January 17, 1853 in Žebrák , Bohemia, † September 9, 1913 in Prague ) was an Austrian mining geologist and paleontologist .

Adolf Hofmann graduated from the Bergakademie Leoben in 1875 as a qualified mining engineer. In 1885 he completed his habilitation there in paleontology . Hofmann worked as an assistant at the Geological Institute at the Montanist University in Leoben from 1876 to 1888. At first he worked there in mineralogy , later also in paleontology. In the period from 1888 to 1893 Hofmann was at the Bergakademie Příbram , Bohemia, associate professor for deposit theory and analytical chemistry. From 1893 to 1909 he held the position of a full professor for mineralogy, geology and the theory of deposits there. His successor was his student Franz Ryba .

Hofmann was a correspondent for the Geological Reichsanstalt .
