In the second half of the 19th century, the population grew rapidly and reached around 1,200. In 1921 the Czech name of the municipality was changed to Borovnička. In 1930, 853 people lived in Klein Borowitz. After the Munich Agreement , the village was attached to the German Empire. In 1939 Klein Borowitz had 838 inhabitants. Between 1939 and 1945 the place was assigned to the district of Hohenelbe . After the end of the Second World War, Borovnička came to Okres Dvůr Králové nad Labem. This was dissolved in the course of the regional reform at the beginning of 1961. Simultaneously with the incorporation of Borovnička to Borovnice , the place came in 1961 to Okres Trutnov. At the beginning of 1979 it was incorporated into Mostek . Since 1990 Borovnička has been a municipality again.
The Borecký potok valley is considered to be the site of fossilized ferns and horsetail. Grenades were also found in the fields.
