history

The first documentary mention was made in 1356 and concerns the place Horní Vernéřovice, which was then called Wernherivilla . The owners of the place were Rubín and Bohuš von Stárkov and then his son Rubín von Žampach . At the end of the 14th century, the mansion was relocated to Katzenstein Castle . After the robber barons seat Katzenstein was destroyed by the Silesian League of Towns in 1447, the castle was rebuilt. In 1466 the Katzenstein lordship belonged to the Glatzer provincial governor Hans von Warnsdorff , who sold it in 1488 to Hynko Špetle von Johnsdorf. He was followed by Bartholomäus von Münsterberg , a grandson of the Bohemian King Georg von Podiebrad . After Bartholomäus' death in 1515, the rule returned to Hynko Spetle in 1528. This sold the property to Zdenko Lev von Rosental and Jan Kruschina von Lichtenburg . Subsequently, the Katzenstein dominion was attached to the giant castle .

The eponymous place Jívka can be traced back to 1542. German colonization began after the Thirty Years' War. A school was established in 1832. The population was 331 in 1885 and 260 in 1910, almost all of whom were German-speaking. From the middle of the 19th century, Jibka was part of the Politz judicial district or part of the later Braunau district , but later became part of the Wekelsdorf judicial district .

The center of the village is the Horní Vernéřovice district .
