Neighboring towns are Kašparova Hora, Kohoutov and Kladruby in the north, Bokouš, Kopaniny and Výhled in the Northeast, Velká Bukovina, Chvalkovice and Střeziměřice the east, Zaječí, Sebuč and Krabčice the southeast, Belun, Heřmanice , Brod, Slotov and Sedmidomí in the south, Kuks , Kuksovský Mlýn and Stanovice in the southwest, Žireč and Rycholko in the west, and U Valášků and Choustníkovo Hradiště in the northwest.

history

The village was probably created by German settlers in the second half of the 13th century during the colonization of the kingdom forest under Ottokar II Přemysl . The place name is derived from a locator Wolf. Wlczkowicze was first mentioned in writing in 1410 as a feudal estate under the Hradiště castle . In 1415 Jan von Opočno bought the estate from Johann von Rothstein's widow Sophie. Three years later, Hano acquired the estate from Kohoutov. The following owners were Hano's son Bohuňek von Kohoutov and, from 1492, Wenzel and Niklas von Neudorf.

In 1515 the place was called Wolfsdorf . In 1541, Diviš Slavata von Chlumec sold the estate together with Hradiště and other villages to Niklas Petzinger von Bidschin. In 1561 his second son Balzar inherited the property. Hermann Wilhelm Petzinger had a small fortress built as his seat in Horní Vlčkovice. Together with his brother Albrecht, he fought on the side of the Protestants during the Bohemian uprising in 1618. After the Battle of White Mountain , both fled Bohemia. In 1622 half of their property, including Vlčkovice and Hradiště, was declared lost and given to General Johann von Sporck . However, the court chamber partially canceled this and sold the Vlčkovice estate on January 21, 1623 for 23,842 guilders and 56 kreuzers to Albrecht von Waldstein . The following year Waldstein left the estate to Maria Magdalena Trčka von Lobkowitz, who reunited it with the Hradiště dominion. She was followed by her son Adam Erdmann Trčka von Lípa , who died in 1654 with Albrecht von Waldstein on the night of the murder of Eger. Then Trčka was implicated in an anti-Habsburg conspiracy and his property was confiscated. The rule of Hradiště was given to Johann von Sporck.

In 1654 the place was called Wlczkowicze or Wolssdorf and in 1713 as Woelssdorf . During the Seven Years' War , the village was occupied on July 10, 1762 by Cossacks allied with the Prussians and 112 ducats were raised for pillage. After the outbreak of the War of the Bavarian Succession , the Prussian army invaded Wölsdorf with 32 battalions and 60 hundreds of cavalry in July 1778. Most of the residents fled with their cattle and their most important belongings across the Elbe , where the defeated Imperial and Royal troops gathered near Dubenec . Friedrich II set up his headquarters in Wölsdorf . On August 15, 1778, the Prussians withdrew from the looted and devastated village. They left several mass graves behind, although there had been no major fighting in the area. On September 6, 1778, Emperor Joseph II visited the former headquarters of his opponent.

In 1790 the village was called Wlzkowicze , Wlcžkovicze or Welsdorf . The name forms Wlčkovice and Wölsdorf have been handed down from 1836 . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Gradlitz . In 1849 the construction of the church began in the town center instead of the Marienkapelle in the cemetery. The cemetery was also given up and a new one was built north of it on the slope above the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lower Wöllsdorf / Vlčkovice Dolní (with Kasparberg / Kašparova Hora ) and Upper Wöllsdorf / Vlčkovice Horní formed two independent communities in the Königinhof District Commission from 1850 . During the German War on June 29, 1866, after the battle near Schweinschädel, units of the V Corps of the II Prussian Army marched through the town. The Czech name forms Dolní Vlčkovice and Horní Vlčkovice were introduced in 1918. In 1930 there were 400 people in Nieder Wölsdorf and 464 in Ober Wölsdorf . In the 1930s there were two bronze goods factories in Wölsdorf, the Seliska brothers and Anton Herles & Sons . An ink factory was located on the site of the former Ober Wölsdorf fortress .

After the Munich Agreement , both communities were added to the German Reich in 1938, and until 1945 they belonged to the Trautenau district . 1939 Nieder Wölsdorf had 378 inhabitants, in Ober Wölsdorf there were 441. After the end of the Second World War, both communities came back to Czechoslovakia and again became part of the Okres Dvůr Králové nad Labem. The German population was expelled and Wolhynientschechen from the Svoboda Army were resettled. In 1949 Dolní Vlčkovice and Horní Vlčkovice were merged to form a municipality Vlčkovice , which was renamed in 1950 in Vlčkovice v Podkrkonoší . After the dissolution of the Okres Dvůr Králové nad Labem, the municipality became part of the Okres Trutnov in 1961 .

The Catholic parish is Hořičky , the parish of the CČSH is Dvůr Králové nad Labem.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Josef, it was built between 1849 and 1850 in the town center instead of the baroque chapel of the Virgin Mary from 1703
  • Hofmann-Sauer Chapel at the cemetery; After the resident Josef Hofmann bought a plot of land at the cemetery in 1870, he had a family grave chapel built on it, which he also made available for public services. The coffins were buried under three stone slabs in the chapel floor. The chapel is currently in a dilapidated condition, all decorations have been lost. Only seven plaques with the names of those buried remain on the left, four of which belonged to the Hofmann family and three to the Sauer family.
  • Atonement Cross in Dolní Vlčkovice
  • Two reliefs from the former fortress of Wilhelm Petzinger in Dolní Vlčkovice. After the fortress was demolished, they were initially attached to the ink factory and, after its closure in the second half of the 20th century , were attached to house no. 20, the administrative headquarters of the JZD .
