Location of the Okres Trutnov

Okres Trutnov (German district of Trautenau ) is the largest district of the Královéhradecký kraj with 1147 km² . The area is located in the north of Bohemia . The administrative seat is the eponymous city of Trutnov (Trautenau).

Landscape and nature

About half of the area is forested, the agriculturally usable area accounts for 44%. Due to the high industrial density, the environment is heavily polluted. The Giant Mountains (Czech: Krkonoše ) are popular with summer and winter sports enthusiasts and hikers. The most important body of water is the Aupa ( Úpa ).

Residents, companies and employment

118,240 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live in 75 municipalities, 12 of which are cities. 24,000 companies are registered. The share of employees in industry is 39%, in trade 9%, in construction 9% and in agriculture 3.5%. In the Kraj, no district has a higher share of employees in industry than this district and no district has a lower share of employees in agriculture than this district. The average monthly wage (December 2004) is about 13,252 kroner and is slightly above the average for the Kraj.
