history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1270. The owner at that time was Ješek von Poličany. For a long time the Poličanský family remained the owners of the estate, which passed to Georg von Waldstein in 1560 . Waldstein had the chapel built on the Zvičina mountain in 1580 and in 1582 assigned the Politschaner property to his third wife Alena von Lobkowicz . In 1589 Tobiáš Bořk Poličany bought and built a fortress. Albrecht von Waldstein was one of the next owners . After his murder, his property was confiscated; then the captain of the Königgrätzer district - Georg Sádovský - bought Poličany. Sádovský also owned Bílá Třemešná , where he gave refuge to Johann Amos Comenius and other Bohemian brothers .

Christoph Ferdinand Kottulinsky , Baron von Kotulin and Krzischkowitz, from the Silesian Duchy of Opole , acquired the Politschan rule in 1657. He had the wooden fortress converted into a two-story stone building. His son Friedrich Leopold arranged for the church in Lanžov to be rebuilt in 1684 . His brother Franz Karl later became Chancellor of the High Council in Silesia and Captain of the Duchy of Wroclaw . The Kottulinsky Politschan held until 1804, then the Prague citizen Franz Xaver Czezigar von Birnitz acquired the rule of 18 villages with 2,856 subjects. He was followed by his son Franz de Paula Czezigar von Birnitz, who belonged to the Bohemian state parliament and was made Knight of the Order of St. Wenceslas in 1836 . Franz de Paula Czezigar had a vineyard laid out at Vinice and a summer pavilion built on the mountain. Czezigar was a Czech patriot and encouraged Karel Jaromír Erben in his studies.

In 1869, Bílé Poličany had the highest population in its history with 666 inhabitants. The next owner of the manor was Růžena Fürstin zu Hohenlohe, wife of the major general and commandant of Josefstadt , Leopold von Croy-Dülmen. Croy-Dülmen had the garrison band play for brass music concerts on the vineyard. The concerts were well attended, and from July 15, 1877 an audience of 2000 has been recorded. After Croy-Dülmen's death, Alfred Zierer acquired the Politschaner estates in 1909. He had the lands divided up, the heyday was over. In 1934 the place had 480 inhabitants.

The chateau changed hands twice before it was confiscated after the Second World War and given to the town of Dvůr Králové nad Labem. In 1949 the Bílé Poličany Castle became the summer residence of the Czechoslovak radio . From 1954 the castle was transferred to the legal ownership of the Ministry of the Interior and used as the central fire brigade school in Czechoslovakia. The Na zámku Small Theater was located in the former farm buildings . In 1970, 245 people lived in the village.
