Armand Gagnier

Armand Gagnier (born August 21, 1895 in Montreal ; † August 27, 1952 there ) was a Canadian clarinetist and conductor.

Gagnier had first lessons from his father Joseph Gagnier and then studied with Oscar Arnold and Jacques Vanpoucke . From 1916 to 1919 he performed as a soloist in Sohmer Park and Dominion Square Park . In 1923 he conducted Sir Harry Lauder's orchestra on its tour of the USA and Europe.

From 1937 he was principal clarinet of the Montreal Orchestra , from 1947 also of the Canadian Grenadier Guards Band . From 1942 to 1949 he was also a member of the Gagnier Windwood Quintet .
