history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1382. The Niederdorf belonged to the Pecka lordship , while the upper village was subject to Branná .

After the Battle of the White Mountain , Albrecht von Waldstein bought the village for 28,000 guilders and incorporated it into the Pecka rulership . He donated these to the Carthusian monastery, which he founded, in Karthaus . After the Thirty Years War, the order brought German settlers into the country to repopulate the deserted villages. After the charterhouse was abolished by the Josephine reforms , Borovnice fell to the religious fund, from which Ferdinand von Trautmansdorff bought it in 1824 .

After the abolition of patrimonial Velká Borovnice formed a municipality in the Jičín district from 1850 and in the Nová Paka district from 1900. In 1921 the Czech name of the municipality in Borovnice was changed. 1930 lived in Groß Borowitz 1181 people. After the Munich Agreement , the Nová Paka district was divided. Groß Borowitz was one of the villages with a German-speaking majority and was annexed to the German Empire. In 1939 the village had 1160 inhabitants. Between 1939 and 1945 the place was assigned to the district of Hohenelbe . After the end of the Second World War, Borovnice came back to Okres Nová Paka. In the course of the territorial reform, the Okres Nová Paka was dissolved at the beginning of 1961 and Borovnice was incorporated into the Okres Trutnov. At the same time Borovnička was incorporated. At the beginning of 1979 it was incorporated into Mostek . Since 1990 Borovnice has been a municipality again.

The Borecký potok valley is considered to be the site of fossilized ferns and horsetail. Grenades were also found in the fields .
