Batňovice (German Batnowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers southeast of Trutnov and belongs to the Okres Trutnov .
geography
Batňovice is located south of the Habicht Mountains in the Hertiner furrow ( Rtyňská brázda ). The village extends along the Rtyňka river in the mouth of the Markoušovický potok , Jestřebí potok and Petrovický potok . To the north is the Batňovický rybník pond . The Varta (436 m) rises to the southwest and the Čertův Kopec (410 m) to the east .
Neighboring towns are Velké Svatoňovice in the north, Jestřebec and Malé Svatoňovice in the northeast, Strážkovice and Odolov in the east, Rtyně v Podkrkonoší and Krákorka in the southeast, Podhradí, Popluži and Sychrov in the south, Úpice in the west and Suchovršala and Kvíčice in the north-west.
history
According to the Úpice chronicle written by Eduard Pelhřimovský, Batňovice is said to have been founded in 1009 by the knight Bartoloměj Svatoň. This statement is not supported by any sources. The village was first mentioned in 1361; It has been documented since 1408. From 1471 the village belonged to the Nachod rule . Batňovice was part of the Wiesenburg lordship until 1516 and after the castle was destroyed it came directly to the Náchod lordship.
In 1794 Batňovice had 255 inhabitants and consisted of 42 houses. In Zálesí, 72 people lived in eleven houses at the same time. After the abolition of patrimonial Batňovice became an independent municipality with the districts Kvíčala and Zálesí in 1848. Until 1850 the village belonged to the Náchod rule. In 1877 the population of Batňovice increased to 790, and there were 178 in Zálesí.

Attractions
- The church of St. Bartholomew in Zálesí has been documented as a wooden structure since 1367. It was renewed in 1681 and 1867.
