history

The first written mention of Kretscham in the Netrscheb / Netrzeba corridor was in the Kottwitzer Kaufbuch in 1583 when Jacob Leeder sold the inn to Valten Weinrich. The settlement of craftsmen arose at the end of the 16th century northwest of the New Castle of the Hostinné Lordship , which was built at the same time, on both sides of the Silesian Road, which led from the Oelstal in the direction of Chotěvice over the Elbe . The place name is an allusion to the "old" town of Hostinné, which was previously the seat of the manorial house. In 1610 the tavern was separated from Chotěvice in 1610 and was later given the house number Neustadtl No. 1. In 1619 the village was renamed Neu Stättl , 1638 as Neustettel , 1650 as Newstaadtl , 1666 as Neustädtl , 1700 as Neu Stadel , 1713 as Uestrzew or Newstädtel as well as dialect as Staatla . The Czech name Vestřev is derived from Kretscham Netrscheb , where its correct translation into Czech would be Netřeba . Since 1787 the village was parish after Nieder Oels . In 1834 the Neustädtel , popularly Neustadtel / Westřew consisted of 18 houses, including a post office and an inn, and had 109 inhabitants. Until the middle of the 19th century Neustadtel was always subject to the Arnau rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Neustadt / Vestřev formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Nieder Oels / Dolní Olešnice in the district administration Hohenelbe / Vrchlabí . The place belonged to the German-speaking area. In 1890, 660 Germans and eleven Czechs lived in the 97 houses in the village. As a result of the Munich Agreement , Neustadt and Nieder Oels were annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Hohenelbe district until 1945 . The oldest tavern in the village was run as the Kolbeck inn until 1945 . After the Second World War, the place, whose population consisted mostly of Germans, came back to Czechoslovakia. As a result of the expulsion of German residents, the number of residents fell sharply from 1946. After the cancellation of the Okres Vrchlabí Vestřev was assigned to the Okres Trutnov at the beginning of 1961. In connection with the on January 1, 1989 the incorporation of Dolní Olešnice to Horní Olešnice , Vestřev lost their status as a district together with Nové Zámky. Dolní Olešnice broke away from Horní Olešnice on September 1, 1990 and has since formed its own municipality. Besides Dolní Olešnice, Vestřev forms the second cadastral district of the municipality.
