Maria Kempken (born August 23, 1983 in Nuremberg ) is a German theater and television actress , producer and author .

life and career

Maria Kempken grew up in Nuremberg. She is the granddaughter of the theater actor Helmut Kempken , who was an actor at the State Theater in Nuremberg until his death in 1988 . Her mother is the actress and entertainer Julia Kempken . After graduating from high school, she moved to Berlin at the age of 19 and studied acting and singing at the Berlin University of the Arts . In 2007 she went to New York City for three months . There she studied acting at the TVI Actor's Studio and dance at the Broadway Dance Center. In 2014 she was a visiting student at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles. She was German champion in Irish and German runner-up in American tap dance. She had theater engagements in Germany a. a. at the Nationaltheater Mannheim , Grenzlandtheater Aachen , Staatstheater Nürnberg, at the Komische Oper Berlin , at the Admiralspalast Berlin, at the Neuköllner Oper Berlin and at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven . In 2016 she was seen as BRAUT in Lorca's “Blood Wedding”, a crossover production of theater and dance theater, for the first time in Germany on a large open-air stage at the Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel. In 2017 she played the title character in the successful piece "Heidi", which was written especially for the Luisenburg Festival , in 2018 she was again part of the Luisenburg Festival's drama ensemble . At the Theater an der Elbe in Hamburg, she impersonated the roles of Annette Ackermann and Christa Lubanski in the musical “Das Wunder Von Bern”, produced by Stage Entertainment based on the film by Sönke Wortmann , from 2016–2017 .

Since 2012, Kempken has been increasingly seen in film and television. Her first feature film, Breathless , in which she played the leading female role alongside Claude-Oliver Rudolph , ran in 2012 in the competition for the Max Ophüls Prize. She had her first television appearance in 2012 in the historical drama The Nervous Great Power alongside Benjamin Kramme , directed by Bernd Fischerauer . From January to September 2013, it was a day as Lena Altenburg in RTL - soap opera All that matters to see their first series role on German television. She took on the role of Juliette Greco's pregnancy replacement . From 2014 to 2015 she played the role of Leonie Weidenfeld in the RTL soap Unter uns .
