The Roma-Areeiro station , also Roma / Areeiro , is a four-track station in the Portuguese capital Lisbon , located on the Linha de Cintura on the border between the two municipalities of Alvalade and Areeiro . The Fertagus trains in the direction of Setúbal end and begin at the station, and the trains on the CP lines Linha de Sintra and Linha da Azambuja also stop and sometimes end there .

The station was opened on June 18, 1972 as a simple stop under the name Areeiro on the Linha de Cintura , the ring line around the center of Lisbon.

In order to meet the growing demands and to be able to cope with the increasing train traffic, the infrastructure operator of the Portuguese rail network, REFER , had the station renovated and expanded between 2002 and 2003. The renovation of the station was embedded in the overall project of the expansion of the Linha de Cintura , in this context, for example, the line also received two additional tracks and a completely new superstructure. Since then, the station has had two more platforms and a long corridor that leads to Avenida de Roma . This also provides better transfer options to the two underground stations Roma and Areeiro . REFER also had a large park-and-ride car park built. With the opening of the station in September 2003, the private train operator Fertagus also extended the train service from the neighboring Entrecampos station to Roma-Areeiro.

Today the station has four platforms, platform 1 is 191 meters long, platforms 2 and 3,234 meters and platform 4,218 meters.
