Paul Rohde

Paul Rohde (born July 2, 1878 in Magdeburg , † April 17, 1941 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German entrepreneur in the mining and armaments industry who promoted the NSDAP .

Life

In 1902 he became a partner and in 1909 sole owner of the Otto Mansfeld & Co. GmbH steelworks . In 1926 he had 80% of the shares of Gelsenkirchner Gußstahl- and iron Werke AG , whose CEO he was, and he in RWTH steel and rolling mills AG renamed . He was a partner in the important armaments company Berlin-Karlsruher Waffenfabrik AG , where he was Günther Quandt's deputy . He was also chairman of the supervisory board of Mauser-Werke AG and a member of the supervisory board of Daimler-Benz AG .

In December 1929 he sold his company to Vereinigte Stahlwerke AG .

On June 19, 1938, Emil Georg von Stauß wrote to Heinrich Schallbroch :

"He [Rohde] had been close to me politically for a number of years before the seizure of power and recognized and promoted the development of National Socialism earlier than most other men in business."

He also supplied the SA with weapons before 1933 . In 1931, together with the banker Paul Hamel, he brokered a conversation between Günther Quandt and Adolf Hitler at the Hotel Kaiserhof in Berlin . He also belonged to the pro-fascist society for the study of fascism founded in 1931 .

From 1933 to 1935, Rohde was President of the Reich Association of German Wholesale and Overseas Trade .
