Manfred Rasch

Manfred Rasch (born September 14, 1955 in Dortmund ) is a German archivist, economic historian and honorary professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Life

Rasch studied history and mathematics at the University of Bochum . From 1984 to 1986 he completed the archival preparatory service at the Marburg Archive School . He began his career as an archivist in 1986 at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr . He received his doctorate in 1989 on the history of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Coal Research 1913–1943 . From 1992 until his retirement in 2018, he was head of the Thyssen AG archive (now ThyssenKrupp Group Archive ) in Duisburg . He is also the chairman of the history committee of the steel institute VDEh .
