Josef Hartleib (born August 2, 1875 in Wiesenfeld near Coburg , †  January 6, 1949 in Hanover ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Live and act

Hartleib attended elementary school . From 1889 to 1907 he worked as a factory, brick and gas factory worker. From 1895 to 1897 he was a member of the 82nd Infantry Regiment . At the turn of the century Hartleib joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 1907 he was an employee, later also agitation leader, at the Association of Factory Workers in Germany.

From 1914 to 1918 Hartleib took part in the First World War, in which he fought in northern France. From 1919 he was a city councilor for the city of Linden near Hanover . Since the incorporation of the city of Linden into Hanover in January 1920, he was a city councilor in Hanover. In addition, he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Hanover from September 1, 1919 (as a replacement for Hermann Lodemann ) to 1923 .

In the Reichstag elections of June 1920 , Hartleib was elected to the Reichstag for the SPD . In the parliament of the Weimar Republic he represented constituency 18 (Südhannover-Braunschweig) until May 1924, then from May to December 1924 constituency 16 (Südhannover-Braunschweig; after a renumbering of the constituencies). From 1924 to 1928 Hartleib was a member of the Prussian state parliament .

After 1933 Hartleib was unemployed. He was also monitored by the Gestapo . In 1944, Hartleib was arrested as part of the Grid Action .
