Anarchici della Baracca

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Anarchici della Baracca (in English: Anarchists of the Barracks ) is a group of young anarchists from Reggio Calabria who used a dilapidated building in the city between 1968 and 1970. The group became famous after September 26, 1970, when four of them (Gianni Aricò, Angelo Casile, Franco Scordo and Annalize Borth) and Luigi Lo Celso from Cosenza lost their lives in a mysterious traffic accident. They were on their way to Rome with their car when they collided with a truck near Ferentino .

The four anarchists in the barracks had observed the Fatti di Reggio and spoke to family members and the Federazione Anarchica Italiana of images that prove that neo-fascist circles were involved in the riots and the bloodbath of Gioia Tauro . They wanted to use a planned demonstration in Rome , which was directed against Richard Nixon's visit to Italy, to hand over their files to the Federazione.

The murder hypothesis

The accident occurred 60 kilometers from the Italian capital Rome, where the five young anarchists were supposed to present a dossier to the committee of the Federazione Anarchica Italiana . This is said to have contained evidence of a direct involvement of the neo-fascists in the so-called Fatti di Reggio and in the bloodbath of Gioia Tauro. The Mini of the five was rammed by a truck, with three of the teenagers dying immediately and the other two shortly thereafter in the hospital. The five's documents and personal notebooks were never found. The driver of the truck turned out to be an employee of Prince Junio Valerio Borghese .

Shortly before the accident, the five told their families and friends facts "which will make Italy tremble". In 1993, two 'Ndrangheta dropouts described the accident as an assassination attempt by the Italian right.
